VA - Fatboy Slim - Dance Bitch (2009)
Label: Liberator Music
Notes: Hard on the heels of his latest incarnation as the imaginary BPA (The Brighton Phonographic Authority), and just before he swings through the country as the headliner of the Good Vibrations Festival, Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim has found the time to put together another mix CD of his fave tracks. Of course, The BPA gets an airing – three times, first with He’s Frank (Washing Up) (a cover from the fab cult ‘80s band The Monochrome Set), then an Azzido De Bass remix of Seattle, and finally a Stanton Warriors remix of Toe Jam. A nice piece of cross-promotion, hey? He also pulls out a few big guns with The Chemical Brothers’ crisp-n-crankin’ Hey Boy Hey Girl remixed by Soulwax (cooling it down a little), X-Press 2’s Lazy (with David Byrne’s vocal nicely manipulated ) and Gorillaz’ Dare (with synths in swooping insect-buzz mode). There are other names to look out for here – John Aquaviva, Santogold, Chromeo, Aquasky – in various degrees of modification. But Mr Cook is playing party animal here, clearly having some bang-on fun rather than pushing things to the edge, so it’s not to be taken too seriously. Tracklist: 1. Fake Blood - Blood Splashing (3:02)
